Yes I do Chopper ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Cav it's so good because it shows the differing levels of racism during the 1980's and it's done through the eyes of a 12 year old boy and in the midst of the Falklands war. It shows skinheads who just wear the uniform but are good people, it shows the BNP as the influencing and meancing force of patriotism using the Falklands as a jumping off point and it shows the skinheads who embrace the uniform and the BNP ideals and how dangerous these people are. I think the saddest part for me was the head skinhead, Combo, had issues that could have shaped him into a different person but he he used his blame to lash out and become the derranged skinhead and to do something he ultimately regrets.

I got the impression from the end scenes that Combo was suffering from some sort of schizophrenic condition - but that's just my (probably wrong) interpretation

Combo wanted a family and that's what made him disturbed. Look how gentle he was with Lol.

Harvey Keitel?
That was on Film 4 a few weeks ago, after This Is England I think, but I passed on it.
Going to get a few new DVDs with my birthday money (how much longer will I get money for my birthday lol), not sure what I fancy. I'll probably pass on that Steven Seagal box set I saw in HMV (8 films for 20 quid ;D)

Totally agree, it was the resentment and bitterness coupled with the racist brainwashing he had received in jail. How fucking scary was the big fella with the machete though ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) If you watch the extras, Shane Meadows said she didn't tell the cast about it, their reactions are real!

I think next week I'll watch all Disney films because this week has fucked me up a bit! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png)

The only bit that didn't work for me was Sean's mother but that was mainly because she looked like Brian Potter's DSS girlfriend from Phoenix Nights lol ;D

HALLOWEEN (2007)In 1978 not only did John Carpenter create a new genre within horror, but he also created a benchmark that has still to be surpassed. While most 'stalk and slash' films are crude, disposable pieces, 'Halloween' was a hugely sophisticated work; Carpenter directed it with great subtlety, making use of shadow as effectively as any of the great exponents of film noir, using long lingering shots and a minimalist soundtrack to create an acute sense of unease in the viewer. In Michael Myers he created a highly disturbing psychopath, a child murderer who appears to exist merely to kill, and for no apparent reason. As is sadly inevitable, the unprecedented success of the film spawned a seemingly never ending franchise of ever declining quality, and eventually an attempt at re-invention in the shape of 'Halloween : H20'. Finally, as is the trend in Hollywood these days, the decision was made to remake the original, with none other than Rob Zombie in the directors chair..... ![](http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/9652/halloweenb11zm9.jpg) I don't know where to start here. Rob Zombie is apparently a huge fan of horror and was aiming to pay homage to the original while fleshing out the character of Michael Myers. The first question is why flesh out the character? Strip away the mystique of a psychopath (as with Hannibal Lecter) and you lose much of the character's menace. Then there's the back story itself, a risible, weakly written, 'vox pop' history of your run of the mill psychopath (animal mutilation, social problems etc), nothing of any great interest or invention whatsoever. Essentially Rob Zombie takes 50 minutes to do (badly) what John Carpenter achieved in 5 minutes (brilliantly), comparing the legendary steadicam shot of Carpenter's for the first murder and Zombie's approach serves to highlight what a limited filmmaker he is. Unfortunately it doesn't stop there, the whole film has been 'Zombiefied'. Despite being set in middle class suburbia, Michael's family is pure trailer trash; his mother just happens to be a stripper, while his father is a drunk. Rock music fractures the eery silence so evident and effective in the original film, while the 23 year old Michael now has the appearance of a grunge fan. Strip away any sense of tension and there you have it, just another mediocre slasher flick. At least Zombie didn't jettison the timelessly creepy mask, one of the few aspects of the original which subsequent film makers cannot wreck. 3/10

I love Rob Zombie, White Zombie are a seminal heavy metal band. It's a shame that films seem to be his priority these days ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Never saw 'House Of 1000 Corpses' though I did see 'The Devil's Rejects' and that was pretty poor, albeit very gruesome. How anyone thought it would be a good idea to let him revive 'Halloween' though, I'll never know. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

He should stick to that in future ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Neko check out 'Astro Creep 2000...' by White Zombie. Released in 1995, but still sounds immense. Rob Zombie's solo stuff is good, but WZ blows it out the water. I think it will be right up your street fella.
