16 BLOCKS
The film that marked Bruce Willis' return to the action genre is a rather more low-key affair than the acclaimed Die Hard franchise. Bruce plays Jack Mosley, a detective charged with a relatively simple task; to escort an important witness, Eddie Bunker (Mos Def) to a court appearance, a journey of 16 blocks. Usually, with over an hour and a half to spare this would be a simple task, except this time, Eddie is testifying against Jack's colleagues in the force - implicating them in a conduct scandal - which means that they rather see him dead than in court.
Very much a formulaic movie within the genre, Willis is nevertheless given a slightly different character; a shambling, overweight, alcoholic figure, whose enthusiasm for life an work is at an all-time low, no white vest this time! And while Willis does a credible enough job, he still can't redeem a rather dull, plot hole-ridden script. Also, key to such films is that you actually root for the heroes of the piece, and I couldn't; Mos Def's character is undoubtedly on of the most annoying I can remember on screen in recent years, think Chris Tucker's cameo in 'The Fifth Element' padded out to 90 minutes. I spent the entire movie hoping that rather than evade the bad guys, Def would be caught and battered senseless around the head with a baseball bat.
4/10

Clerks II, follow up on the original film, 10 years on, but now set in a fastfood place rather than the quickstop. same sense of humour, but with a good few non funny jokes, watchable, but not a patchon original. 5.5/10

And watching Rosario Dawson dancing in a tight vest has to merit at least a couple of extra marks.

THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR Now the write up for this said it was a thriller, but then I quickly realised that it wasn't (why do these people write stuf that isn't true ) So I was expecting a thriller and then had to alter my mind set as it was almost James Bond-esque for most of the filem , except that the bad guy was the "Bond" figure this time. I have to say I wasn't really enjoying it, but then about 2 thirds of the way through everything clicked and I suddenly realised that the woman chasing Thomas Crown had actually been won over by him (an earlier comment by her about being just in it for the money all of a sudden made more sense). All in all I quite liked it - although as it wasn't what I expected I prob didn't get as much out of it as I might have done 7/10

The Science of Sleep - or La Science des rêves (literally The Science of Dreams), is a 2006 fantasy film, written and directed by Michel Gondry. The film stars Gael García Bernal, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Miou-Miou and Alain Chabat.
from the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, similar in the story, of two people in love and how they think about it, the plot involves stephane in paris having moved from mexico, who lives out his life half reality/half dreams, who falls for the girl next door, but gondry, shows us his dreams as if they were the reality, highly recommend to watch, one of the best seen this year, 9.2/10 ;D

I've watched Ferris's Day Off a multitude of times & it never gets tired or uplifting. 11/10. Good Will Hunting. 7/10.A bit too prickly & uninvolving & too easily resolved for my liking though Williams is excellent in a non comedic role. How Minnie Driver can be classified as beautiful is a complete mystery to me. Damon Affleck & Skarsgaard are all competent in their roles & its a neat package to while away the time without provoking ones mind too much.

It must be a lot better than the steaming pile of crap that is 'Stranger Than Fiction'.
