I Robot: Watched this last night having bought it in the 3 for £20 at HMV...
Not great, but not bad either, if it was anyone else other than will smith in it it wouldnt be as good.
6/10

Haven't seen Ali though, so I couldn't remark on his more serious acting...

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
"TALK TOO THE HAND!!!!" that line was worth the entrance fee alone when it was in the cinema, 4 years later and i still love that line
had a reasonable storyline aswell

Howl's Moving Castle.
Hayao Miyazaki's follow-up to the universally lauded Spirited Away, tells the story of an 18 year-old girl (Sophie), cursed by a witch to live in the body of an old woman.
Sophie leaves her home and her job and seeks out a wizard who can lift her spell. Upon boarding Howl's castle she ingratiates herself by taking upon the role of cleaner, and there she meets a cursed fire demon named Calcifer. The pair resolve to help each other break their spells.
Astoundingly animated, probably a measured progression in that respect, from Spirited Away, the film brims with more imagination than nearly all of last years' Hollywood CGI animations combined. Sypathetically voiced by a noteworthy line-up of Hollywood actors, and also boasting a complexity of storytelling that demands repeat viewings, it makes for a worthy (if slightly inferior) follow-up.
8/10

Laputa~ I really must dig that out and have another watch of it sometime soon - couldn't tell you if the dubbing's any good, since I only use subs, but the rest is~ (But since we've established that's my favourite Ghibli production, I would say that! )

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines "TALK TOO THE HAND!!!!" that line was worth the entrance fee alone when it was in the cinema, 4 years later and i still love that line had a reasonable storyline aswell Some great sfx as usual but it seemd to lack the believability of T2 in terms of characterization. It all seemed rushed & at times thrown together.Mind you that chase scene with the crane has to be on of the best ever in film history. Danes was very unconvincing as the 'heroine' .T4 set in 2036 is still in the offing hopefully this time round Mostow gives a more involving story & fleshed out characters

They really should've left the Terminator series as it was T1 was fantastic, T2 has cemented its place in cinema legend... they'd never have beaten that. Let's be honest, even by modern standards (vastly improved computer FX etc), can you pick anything out as wrong with T2?

The Trial Of Tony Blair
Okay, not technically a film. But still very good and very believable. Superbly well-acted by Robert Lindsey & Alexander Armstrong in particular, it makes you wonder what will happen to Tony Blair after he leaves number 10? Hope for the future...
7/10

Bram Stokers Count Dracula.
Nicely filmed ( a touch heavy in visual metaphor)& competently acted. But it seems to lack excitement. Reeves looks out of sorts as Harker. Cary Elwes is non existent as Holmwood(probably a victim of the script editing).Winona Ryder is gorgeous as ever but her accent grates a touch.Definitely not Edwardian enough.
Grants Jack Seward is peculiar a victim of Coppolas direction. Not the solid reputable character of the book but a rather screwed up indiviual.
Hopkins & Oldman knock spots off the rest of the cast & are the highlights of the film. The sfx are pretty decent but the story which is the film lacks motivation & seems rushed in places (as in the novel the chasing of Dracula across London & the destruction of his sacred boxes of earth & the effect of the tide on Dracula.
Overall pretty good & second after the original Nosferatu. 7/10
