Craig Moore. How can they win in Palermo then lose at home to Sheff U? (no disrespect Mort) teams allways play well in europe but cant do it in the league

LOL!
Seriously, troubled times for the Toon. Big losses revealed last week, 2nd bottom tonight. The only thing that keeps them afloat is 50,000 fans turning up each home game

Newcastle. With the squad they have at their disposal they should be looking to stay in the top eight all season. Is this just a case of good players just not making a team work?

yeah big losses but that is not a worry really (not yet anyway) only us and man u usually make a profit (both usually over £20m) but we spent so much money last season and failed to do anything so it was expected. how come a few years ago we finished 4th and reached the semi finals the uefa cup then if teams can only do well in one competition

No, I think the problem is they don't have many good players. Bramble and Moore aren't good enough, Boumsong was worse. Taylor and Ramage are decent kids though. Midfield is weak. Solano and Butt are past it; N'Zogbia, Duff and Milner are too lightweight and Emre is only there for the money. Luque up front hasn't settled at all and Martins isn't up to much. Unlucky with Owen's injury but that's football. One of the major problems is that they relied on Shearer for too long and played it the way he wanted. No-one really seemed to think what they were going to do once he retired Newcastle. With the squad they have at their disposal they should be looking to stay in the top eight all season. Is this just a case of good players just not making a team work?
