Thanks to those lovely people at Diet Coke. Problem is, I don't know what free song to download! An exalt to whoever makes the best suggestion that I end up downloading! I shall keep this offer open for the next 30 minutes! (22:25 1/12)* *seeing as I've only got 2 (admittedly reasonable) offers so far!

The Hounds Of Love- The Futureheads
or
The Libertines- Can't Stand Me Now
Two great songs, or maybe something x-massy?

Ok poll is closed. I shall check out three of the suggestions (I already have Can't Stand Me Now - excellent song!)
I may also consider the "something Xmassy" wildcard as I don't actually have a copy of Fairytale of New York (and damned if I'm buying a "Christmas Album" to get it!!!)

Problem is the three songs suggested are all good... including the Razorlight one, and I confess they wouldn't be my top pick usually No Fairytale of New York is wonderful, well beyond all other Christmas songs! Including the cheese-tastic Lonely This Christmas lol!!! ;D

Funk an Xmas song, they generally are of poor quality. Let me think of something funky, are you in a funny high spirited mood, or in a slightly more refelective awesome soul and brilliant guitar solo type mood?

The latter, are you sure? The latter will take your breath away. The former will make you smile every time you hear it. Both are very funky.

have you made a decision yet Jules ? I haven't! I may not say what I pick, it's been built up too much now!!! They only let you listen to 30 seconds of each song on the preview thing as well, which is harsh... Anyway, an exalt will be delivered... possibly to all the suggesters in fact...

Alright man after about two or three listens you will love this song, it'll blow your balls off.
It has very few lyrics and is one of (if not the) greatest guitar solo of all time. Eddie Hazel the guitarist was told to play like his mother had just died, it shows.
This is not a great example of the mothership type funk, but it's an awesome song.
Maggot Brain by Funkadelic.
Listen to it man, just take it in......
