alright folks. I found out this morning that I have a disciplinary interview coming up for unauthorised absence from work advice? (try to keep the piss taking to a minimum... )

oh no!!!! Can't you just dazzle them with big long words that they don't knopw the meaning of, in the hope that they'll be so flabbergasted thay they won't be able to remember why you're having the meeting in the first place?

How much time are they claiming you've taken? Not sure exactly, last Thursday was where it all went badly wrong though - woke up at 11am I know there've been at least two other instances in the time I've been here (about 18months?) I intend to stand on my record - currently 91.5% of targets met (well above the necessary standard) Gah automatic updates! Be back in a few mins after I restart the PC!

at the image of Jules being dropped into his trousers through a trapdoor I had a Wallace and Gromit alarm clock when I was at school Advice? alright folks. I found out this morning that I have a disciplinary interview coming up for unauthorised absence from work advice? (try to keep the piss taking to a minimum... ) Familiarise yourself with the proceedures that they should follow before pursuing a disciplinary interview. If they haven't followed any of them, then point this out and then contact personnel or your union. At this point it should go away. If they've followed proceedure then take someone in with you (you are entitled to), the best person is of course your union rep. Then point to your excellent work record, and be slightly apologitic. Or you could play the 'I feel stressed and usupported by my line manager .....' card!!

Jules mate I think you should play it cool, you'll get the line 'you know what your office hours are, everyone else gets here etc., stop being a twat and get here on time' Next time you wake up late, call in sick! Also this ain't the first time is it, your boss must be a bit wound up as he/she tried the softly softly approach and you've taken no notice

Good work record + obvious remorse + assurances of improvements in future = slap on wrists and sent on your way. Be firm but agreeable. You know you're in the wrong, but at the same time it's not affecting your performance - they won't want to risk alienating you if your work record's that good, but they can't be seen to be soft either. Aim for that middle ground, and everyone'll be happy (And for future reference, learn how to subtly manipulate people so that you can get away with even more~ )

Sorry... yeah that's about the measure of it, sounds much worse when you don't know me... I've not had anything as formal as this, obviously I got told off and felt like a naughty little schoolboy when it's happened before... but if you're not awake, you can't call before 10am to say there's a problem! I do wonder if I should cite stress what with this fucking MSc I'm trying to complete at the same time?! Oh and Billy - nice idea mate, won't get me out of this one though fella!

Well quite, apart from anything else it's a bit fooking embarrassing! Hmm yeah but see my comment - on the odd occasion I've been so knackered that I didn't make it out of bed I'm not able to call in am I? That's kinda the point. And like GT says "say it won't happen again" - but will it? I hope he doesn't think I've taken no notice - that's the thing isn't it. people make assumptions. I've felt complete panic and guilt each time it's happened...

I'm not quite the genius I sometimes make out I guess It's nothing to do with your intellect it's doing more than your body can cope with. My friend is going through the same at the moment. She's taking her accountancy exams and trying to hold down a full time job. She's had so many migraines and time off with illness because she so low at the moment. Would they allow you some study leave to do some work?

They do, that's why I'm not usually on here on Tuesdays... they're actually being reasonably helpful, but it's still a bit of a strain tbh.

I'm not quite the genius I sometimes make out I guess My sister in law works for the council, and did exectly as I've outlined. It turned in his haste to discipline her, her boss had not given her a written warning or ample time to prepare for her disciplinary hearing. After she contacted her personnel department to point this out, it all went away. Her boss however, was called in for a meeting with the head of personnel, where he was reminded of his duties and the councils discipliary proceedures.
