Crystal Palace 2-0 Ipswich Goals from Leon Cort and Paul Ifill gave Palace victory over Ipswich. Danny Butterfield set up the opener with a good cross for Cort to head into the roof of the net and Ifill made sure of the win with a right-footed drive. But the Eagles had to hang on for the last 15 minutes after Tom Soares was sent off for a foul on Dan Harding. Harding had earlier gone close for Ipswich when his drive was tipped round the post by Gabor Kiraly, who also saved well from George O'Callaghan. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Crystal Palace: Kiraly, Lawrence, Hudson, Cort, Butterfield, Ifill, Fletcher, Soares, Kennedy (Watson 73), Freedman (Borrowdale 82), Kuqi (Scowcroft 85). Subs Not Used: Speroni, Morrison. Sent Off: Soares (75). Booked: Soares. Goals: Cort 33, Ifill 51. Ipswich: Price, Wright, Wilnis (Bruce 46), Naylor, Harding, Roberts (O'Callaghan 60), Garvan, Legwinski, Peters (Haynes 60), Lee, Walters. Subs Not Used: Supple, Clarke. Booked: O'Callaghan, Lee (Jim will not be happy with that, 10 bookings this season ). Att: 17,090

Well I can honestly say that was a dismal effort from our players today.
Our support was very good in my opinion, great atmosphere at the ground. We started brightly, Dan Harding going close but we faded towards the end of the first half. The so called penalty we should have had was, well, lets say, debatable. Must say that Walters did look lively, although once he'd had his head bandaged he became a little less useful up front as people kept knocking him when he went up for the bal resulting in him basically being knocked out. I would have take him off after the second knock to the head and brought Haynes on, but hey ho, not my decision. Must say the Palace's first goal was actually semi decent, but they shouldn't have been given the space in the first place.
Second half start wasn't promising at all, Palace dominating the play from the whistle. The second goal soon followed from poor defending from Town. I missed the fight in the pitch as by that point we were hurling abuse at the Palace fans and was paying more attention to them than the game (not that I was actually missing much). When the subs were introduced we looked alot more lively on the pitch and O'Callaghan looks like he could be a bit of a handful when he gets a bit more meat on him. Soooooo skinny. Came close again a couple of time but still managed to lose possesion constantly with hoofing up from the defence and poor crossing from the midfield.
My best player of the match: Price. Made a couple of very good saves, if it wasn't for him we would have lost by a higher margin
Worst Player: Gary Roberts. Did we really pay 250,000 for him? His crosses were appaling, his corners were terrible and should have been taken off at half time
All in all, crap game, good atmosphere, but not worth Crystal palace prices to go and see the match (Oh and their stadium is a piece of ****)

Looking at our remaining league fixtures for the rest of this month I tend to agree...
However, looking at March and April we can at least push our way into the top half.
It's so close at the bottom this season though. If the teams below us begin to win, and we lose a couple of games then we could be right in there at the bottom!
You may think that's being pessimistic, but it's a general statement that's probably been seen by a few of us. I'm not concerned about it though, because some of our fixtures next month look alright...
