Dunno where this story came from but it looks like a pile of bollocks. If they're reluctant to let go of Macken, Palace would never let go of Freedman or Hughes. it was in one of the tabloids on sunday, top of my head can't think which but it'll be on the team talk papertalk pages

I've just had an amusing thought: Imagine if all the names in this rumour mill were actually a team. I wonder how they'd do in the Championship... ...ignoring the fact that there are no goalkeepers there...

This is rather confusing - I had Stephen Ward in orange in the list because he was joining Fredrikstad, and now all of a sudden he looks like he's on his way here!
Striker potentially coming in surely means Sam Parkin is on his way out.

I hope so would be a great buy. I wondered why he wanted to join a norwegian side rather than town considering we have an irish manager and half of ireland in our dressing room

Lol! There'll be bottles and drunken young Irishmen all over the pitch! It would be a hell of a job for poor old Alan Ferguson!

Seems Jim thinks we'll have 2 new signings in this week.
Oh, and Simon Walton's definitely not extending his loan, so say goodbye to him after the Coventry game...

Well all this crap about Nicky Forster perhaps being sold to Hull is getting up my arse - there's absolutely no bloody need to sell one of our best strikers right now, and if Jim thinks he can sell him and get Adebola in before the window closes, I'd like to warn him that he's pushing his luck. I have my doubts that we'll be able to sign Adebola and all other targets look off.
Hopefully Sylvain Legwinski will say "yes" to his contract offer, I think he's a cracking signing.

completely agree selling a player / signing one before the window seems mental im thinking we're becomming fed up of Forsters injury problems tho... but is Adebola really a solution ? i wudnt play him for me pub sunday team

The last day of the transfer window is where gambles (and normally mistakes) are made. People are so desperate to sign players, they'd probably end up signing a passing person walking their dog

I've updated the rumour mill following the deadline day shenanigans - remember, we can still add unattached players to the squad even with the transfer window shut, so the mill is still worth keeping an eye on...
What do we think of the deals, people? I'm delighted Legwinski has joined and have no doubt he will be a hit. I'd have been happier with the Macken signing had Forster not been sold to Hull, especially seeing as we couldn't get Adebola and Macken isn't even here permanently. I'd hope Trotter doesn't leave permanently because he looks like a good one in a couple of years. Here's hoping Jim's wheeling-and-dealing significantly improves our play, and here's also hoping we can bring in a couple more...

Legwinski means we pretty much have the mf sorted now. if we play Harding, Bruce, Devos Sito/Wilnis(cant decide!) consistently, the hopefully they should start to perform as a unit.
We need to sort out the attack. Haynes and Clarke show great promise, but lack experience. Lee has his good and bad days. We need to add either through loanees, or in Jan

Yes... funny how these things change so suddenly, isn't it! I must admit, I've been worried about our strikeforce since the start of the season. So many people saying that it's not a problem area for the team, but I've thought all along that it was and now it definitely is. We'll soon see if Macken fits in, Alan Lee hasn't been wonderful this season (to be honest, hasn't been wonderful since the Crewe game when he got injured), Haynes will be great but not yet, Bowditch... well we all know how my stance on Dean Bowditch has changed in recent weeks - rather than insist on selling him (as I did before the QPR game), I now want him to stay and stick in around 15 - I say 15 because it's the absolute ceiling of what I think he's capable of and I think we need someone to be hitting that total with Forster gone. This is about as realistically optimistic as I can be: Name | 2006/07 Performance | Goals | Macken | Proves to be an excellent signing by hitting the kind of form he used to have at Preston and joining on a permanent basis in January. | 17 | Bowditch | Shines this season like he should have done before | 15 | Lee | Gets his act together around Christmas and sticks in a good few within the space of about 10 games. | 10 | Haynes | Doubles his tally from last season to make good progress. | 8 | Clarke | Like Haynes last season. | 4 |
With any luck, you'll also see Williams, Currie, Garvan, De Vos and Naylor weigh in with a good few (say at least 4 each), perhaps even Legwinski sneaking a crafty 2... ;D
