I see Jason De Vos thinks we'll be flooded with applications. Can just imagine the advert: Small club, no money, have to sell many players most seasons. Looking for a manager who can provide promotion on such limited resources, but don't despair our youth academy is very good... hey...thats our job advert!!

I don't know why I'm laughing though, because it's sadly true

Maybe I should make it more specific, add a small Suffolk club

your not a small club - colchester, southend, torquay etc are 'small clubs' - you are a nice 'middle' sized club!

done alright but hardly great ? deary me norwich make me laugh worthingtons not exactly great is he burley got is in a mess financially, joe did a brilliant job just injuries ruined our season ( granted we weren't top 4,,, ) but maybe 5 / 6 or so general feeling of who the new boss will be then..... ? who do we want ? and whose available ?

Mowbray come to Ipswich if he's got the chance of Middlesborough? Doubt it.
Newell possibly? Or even Peter Taylor? I wouldn't say no to either. Maybe Steve Tilson?
In the end of the day, I don't think I can honestly say a bad word against Joe Royle. Yes, this season has been dissapointing, but in all honesty, did we really think we were going to get promoted this season? In my opinion, reaching the playoffs 2 seasons out of 3 as a damn good acheivment, considering he only 'bought' us 3 players? If we can, like it's been mentioned before, get a manager thats as shrewd in the transfer market as Joe, I reckon we'll be fine
Thanks for everything Joe, and good luck in the future (even though you said Ipswich was the last club you'd manage?)

Never mentioned Worthington, and no he hasn't done great, but at least he has taken us up, something which JR hasn't done with you lot. Okay, so you have had financial problems, but still, Ipswich are a big club at Championship level and after three years maybe you could have hoped to get promoted, or at least to Cardiff. Or are you happy with just cruising along in mid table in the Championship? If so then yer, JR did a great job.

be happy with cruising mid table with joe royle ? um so last season we came 3rd,,,,,,,, top 12.5 % ( OBVIOUSLY MIDTABLE - that would be 40-60 % but i see ur point there,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, took us to 7th when he took over and we were around or if not in the drop zone,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, again,,,,,,,,,,,,, yes 7th is cruising mid table...................... and his first full season he came 5th,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, again crusing mid table ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, yeah one season of 15th ( but no 1 at ipswich really thought this season would be great,,,, sold our best players,,,, and tonnes of injuries !!! ) o deary me i don't know y ive even bothered 2 answer ur post ! but i do agree we are one of the biggest 3 or 4 clubs in this league, and i guess similar 2 u in a way ( we all don't like comparing one another with the other ! but we're quite alike i reckon really...) suppose it shows that if a team does have a bad season, then the manager often pays the price hopefully whoever we get in will do a good job, and takes us back to the top 6 ( well i reckon with the squad we have joe royle could have done that myself, but what do i know ...... ) norwich guy im interested in your expectations of the season fair enough u aint a huge joe royle fan but he has done a good job for us in the main i reckon both clubs,,,,,,,,,,,,, at risk of all ipswich lot on here getting on me back !!! will be top 6 norwich have earnshaw who will score goals, and their form did pick up come the end of the season sorry for ranting just got a bit grrr about ur post !
