Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Gareth Farrelly has joined Leicester to train with the Championship outfit. The 31-year-old former Bolton and Wigan man joins Carl Asaba at the Foxes, who are keen to run the rule over the pair during the international break. Assistant manager Mike Stowell told the club website: "We have no game for 11 days so we will look at them both." Meanwhile, chief scout John Marshall has left the club for a "non-football related opportunity elsewhere". Farrelly returns to England after his recent sacking from the player-manager's position at Eircom League club Bohemians. Could be a good signing!

I'll wait and see what happens first, I don't want to become too upset about it yet because we might not even sign him! All I'm thinking is that if we've got these 2 on trial there's obviously a bit of money knocking about somewhere for wages so surely it'd be more beneficial to get a younger player in (maybe from the Prem) on loan rather than either Asaba or Farrelly? We've already played the experienced midfielder card a la Andy Johnson and it has blatantly failed, we can't survive with another has-been in the centre of the park!

Yes i do agree that a Prem loan player would be the better option! Yes, there must be some money sloshing about! But the trouble is, we don't know how much.... or little!

That's true but we wouldn't have people on trial if there was very little to no money available or even if the board didn't want to invest any more ( ) into the squad, so there'll be some somewhere!

Yup, would be miles better than signing these no-hopers!
