Bad omen. Saw a dead Owl on the side of the road this morning I know what you're saying AB but it can't last with us. We are the masters of our own downfall, constantly! I think you'll win 2-1. We've not got Wood or Beevers at the back. Darren Purse has turned into Michael Duberry for some reason and Tommy Spurr...God love him but he's not fast enough and he's not a full back. We haven't got a consistent midfield because Laws keeps pissing about with it and he always buys the same type midfield player. Our forward line depends on whether Tudgay and Johnson can be arsed or not. Well, Mrs H I am very pleased to say that I was wrong on this occasion and you were right. No gloating from me though. Just relieved that we've managed to get a win against you. I would imagine that the game was pretty entertaining for the neutral. More like walking through the hot coals of hell fire in bare feet for me though. At half time everything seemed a bit unreal. We're playing Sheffield Wednesday and we're 3-0 up! It's not often we're 3-0 up against anyone at half time, let alone against Wednesday. The unthinkable prospect of actually being able to enjoy a second half without any of that familiar nervous tension in my stomach began to actually seem possible. I wouldn't say we were playing particularly well and 3-0 was flattering. But that said, we could have had one or two more and you could also have scored yourselves. Your side seemed uncharacteristically timid, almost as if they were lacking in confidence. Tudgay was quiet, and Johnson was not making any inroads. And your defence could not cope with Jamie Ward. Him going off was a blow to us in that it certainly reduced our incisiveness. But for most of the half, every time we got forward it looked like you might concede a goal. Speaking to the people around me at half time, we were all of the opinion that we needed to go after you right from the start of the second half and get another goal to finish the match as a contest. Well, the opposite of that happened. Laws obviously said a few choice words at half time, because there was a noticeable difference in the tempo of your play. There was urgency and the ball was being passed about quickly and crisply in a purposeful and creative way. The timing (and execution) of Tudgay's strike could not have been scripted better. And from then on we were struggling to get a foothold in the second half. The introduction of Esajas to replace Johnson was a good tactical substitution. He scored a great free kick and he caused us problems throughout the second half. He looks a very good player. Does he play like that every week? At 3-2 with 25 minutes still to go, I thought an equaliser was inevitable. We'd have never lived that down! But fortunately, although we were still on the back foot for a lot of the time, we did get a bit of a grip in that we regained some defensive composure and I think you can only play at that pace and tempo for so long, so you began to tire. And towards the end as you were trying to force an opening, you inevitably left yourselves exposed at the back, so we made one or two chances ourselves - one of which produced a first class save from Grant. No, definitely no gloating here. Just very pleased to have won. And my drive home didn't seem as long as it did last season. Just as well. . Unbelievably, I was stuck in a trffic jam on the M42 at midnight for fully half an hour. At midnight!! What's going on. Never used to happen when I had me my horse and carriage.....

Question to Esajas from BBC Sheffield: Have you ever scored a goal in an atmosphere like that?
Esajas: Yes, Feyenoord vs Ajax, but it wasn't as big a game as this

so once you weren't flukey.... i suspect we'll have 15 shots on target score one, you'll have one on target and score two.... They weren't flukey when they won 2-0 at Hillsborough whilst Robson was manager.

I was happy with that. After the first half I thought we were dead and buried but to come back like that and play well I was proud of us.
Our defence is a disgrace though. We've now scored the winning goal in the last 2 consecutive matches and not won those matches.
Fair play to United you hung on in the second half. You could have humiliated us though quite easily.

Ummm . . . one up to friend Morton then.
(I must confess, I am now beginning to regret not having the chance to put the budgeis to the sword this season in our local derby.)
However Morton, please do not get too carried away, as one swallow a summer doesn't make and I fear you will unfortunately struggle to make the play-offs this season. However, good luck to both sides of the steel city, well, other than when you play Ipswich, naturaally.

Got to work on Friday and there was this bloke repairing electrical stuff. Got talking to him and he was moaning how the M1 was solid and he had to get back to Sheffield. I said "Oh it is the Sheffield derby tonight" He replied "Is it? Who are playing?"
