Reading striker Kevin Doyle is on the verge of completing a move to Premier League new boys Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Reports in The Reading Chronicle suggest that the 25-year-old striker could be ready to follow former Reading team-mate Marcus Hahnemann to Molineux in a £6.5 million deal.
The former Reading goalkeeper signed a 12-month rolling contract with Wolves yesterday and believes that it is inevitable more players will leave Reading.
"I think it’s inevitable players will go," warned the 37-year-old. "They could well move on because I think the club are trying to offload some salaries."
Doyle and team-mate Stephen Hunt had been linked with a £7 million joint move to Everton but it would seem Reading have got the bigger offer they were waiting for.
Doyle outscored Republic of Ireland team-mate Robbie Keane in his first season in the Premier League, netting 13 times, but a tough second season was punctuated with relegation to the Championship. Doyle could only manage six goals in that campaign.
It is believed that Wolves manager Mick McCarthy sees Doyle as the perfect foil for striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who top scored in the Championship last season with 25 goals.
Doyle ended the season with 18 goals as Reading's early season promise faded and their campaign eventually ended in a semi-final defeat in the play-offs.

I hope you do at that price. He was rubbish second season in the premier scoring about 5 goals all season. In fact he only scored about 2 goals in the second half of last season.

Reading fan on the Hobnob forum reckons us and a more established Premier League club are in for him, but we're hoping our offer of first team football will be enough to swing it in our favour and former team-mate Marcus Hahnemann can tell him how wonderful we are Plus it's common knowledge that our Irish lads are good mates with Reading's. Jez Moxey has been on Sky Sports News today saying we're in discussions with a few players, as well.
