Traillists in at the moment, as described by a fellow Hatter:
Edwards played at Dover on loan last season and, according one of their fans, performed well and would make a good back-up keeper. No idea about the other two, though; you 'orns got anything on Hunter?

Ah, but didn't Morgan score on his debut?

Word is that Lewis Emmanuel played in a pre-season friendly for Oldham last night, and is training with them too. Guess that means he's there on trial at the moment/looking for a move there when his contract expires.
With him apparently leaving and Sol Davis released, this means we only have one recognised LB (Howells), who's still only a teenager, though apparently Beavan can play there too (also a teen). Time for Mick to look around for back-up; particularly someone who'll bring a bit of experience in?

Another signing, subject to passing a medical - Shane Blackett, another signing from Peterborough (anyone'd think Barry Fry's a Luton fan ) 6'3" central defender who can also play left back, apparently. Highly rated with the Posh, he's Luton-born and (I'm told) has a fair bit of pace and good aerial presence, which should help us a lot in set pieces, an area we struggled in last season! One back-up goalie, and the squad's pretty much set!

Looks like that rumour came to fruition, then!
Must be almost certain that Roper's on his way now, though?

Drew Talbot has left the club on a free transfer, signing a two-year deal with Chesterfield. Best of luck to him

I missed most of the second half of last season through illness, when Roper was said to have improved; the first half of the season I thought Roper was poor, maybe he was unfit. Probably worth hanging onto him if we can afford him.
I always liked Talbot, he works very hard and is pretty quick too (at League 1 or 2 level). Yes, best of luck to him on his move.

Of the few games I managed to make in the second half of the season, Roper consistently impressed me. Apparently, he's known for being a slow starter every season he plays, which would perhaps be problematic since we really need to hit the ground running.
As for Talbot; we couldn't really afford the wages, and while he certainly gave his all every minute he played, he wasn't exactly a potent goalscorer for us. I still maintain that he'd make a fabulous winger, but we'll certainly not find that out at Luton.

It's official; Roper's out on a free transfer to Kettering. Would normally wish him luck, but since he'll be playing against us this season, I'm not sure that's wise...

Also worth noting that Lewis Emmanuel has been offered a contract "by an unnamed club" but Mick says he's hopeful that they'll be able to sit down and work out a deal to keep him at Luton in the next 48hrs.

Lewis Emannuel has signed a one-year deal with us, thus ensuring our left side is indeed adequately covered for the season (God, that's just jinxed it ) Someone on B606 just remarked, "Just think back to where we were this time last season." Is it any wonder there's such immense positivity throughout the club right now?

Yes, Neko, a good signing there We seem to have a hell of a big squad though.

In all fairness, though, they're probably on much more reasonable wages than under previous regimes, and I'll bet we have better cash flow than other clubs around us.
Lots of people have said we have a big squad; what're the numbers like? Given how physical this league's meant to be, and how many games we may end up playing (allowing for a couple of decent cup runs and the leagues matches, it could well be 60+), it could well be a deciding factor for us!

Three new triallists played with us today; Paul Terry, midfielder (ex-Yeovil), Steve Basham, striker (ex-Exeter) and Shane Gore, goalkeeper (ex-Stevenage). Not sure that we need another midfielder, but the striker might be useful, and a back-up keeper would be greatly appreciated! No news on their performances as yet, but I'll try to fill you guys in ASAP Also, not transfer-related, but thought Derek and Tiffie (wherever she may be lurking) might want a piece of the action.

I think I've heard of Basham and, as you've said Neko, we need a back up goalie, so here's hoping.
I see we missed two pens today and lost 1-0 against Conference South side ... not good.
