As some other posters on here may be aware, Luton has a reasonable contingent of fans in the Scandinavian countries; Norway in particular. Despite the obvious expense, they usually manage to come to five or so home games every season, wearing their Luton shirts and Viking helmets and roaring along with the crowd as if the norsemen were invading all over again.
Unsurprisingly, a mob of them are going to be at Wembley this weekend - but for one in particular, it very nearly didn't happen. Alex from Trondheim was left stranded at Oslo Airport after his flight was cancelled due to fog. He was unable to get on a replacement flight today, and faced missing the Cup Final.
Gary Sweet, our chairman, personally spent several hours researching alternative flight possibilities, and found in the end that the only option was to fly business class via Paris at a cost of £750. Sometime after 3am this morning, Gary booked Alex's flight on his personal credit card, to ensure he doesn't miss the game tomorrow.
It's so nice to see a club chairman go so far above and beyond the call of duty like that The board have been amazing all season, but that really caps it off.
At the request of some members of Luton Outlaws, a Paypal account has been set up so that any fans that want to can chip in a little toward the cost of the flight themselves, as a kind of thank you to Gary - and if we should exceed that £750, every additional penny will go towards the club's youth projects.
Sometimes, you just can't help but be proud of the club you belong to

Finally, we got it sorted. Have you ever tried to pay for someone else's flight on an overseas airline with your own credit card (or four). Bloody nightmare but sorted. The only way Trondy could get here is with KLM via Paris tomorrow at a whopping £750 mainly because the only seat left was business class (lucky git). We tried various options but they were either unavailable, more expensive, ridiculous routes or impossible connections.
