The growth and popularity of the MLS is resulting in an expansion franchise being set up in Seattle. Seattle is famous for the Space Needle and the surrounding scenery .And being more Canadian than American ? The Sounders will set up home at Qwest Field and the main owner is Paul Allen ,Bill Gates buddy at the dreaded Microsoft. Support seems to be high already with over 17000 season tickets sold . Does this include Officer Groyman ? The area lacks an NHL team but has the perennial failures in th NFL the Seahawks. Dont know much about the Trail Blazers. There is an AHL hockey team and I am sure over the next decade Seattle could support an NHL franchise .Surprised Winnipeg Jets didn't pop down there. Latest signing is Freddy Ljungberg which should delight the womenfolk of the city & OG. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Sounders_FC#Current_squadGiven another decade or so MLS will be right up there with the NHL but will take a while to catch up to MLB, NBA and NFL.

Nice view and a very beautiful stadium. Shouldn't be surprised if America launches another bid for a World Cup. Well done on backing your local team. I expect there will be more expansion franchises slowly but surely as 'soccers' popularity increases over there. Has to be said a bit pricey considering the current economic climate. Guess Freddie didn't go for peanuts.

Guess Freddie didn't go for peanuts. Not sure that We'd even get a shot at getting any world cup matches up here if we got the world cup, due to the fact that our pitch at Qwest is field turf not sod. It's my father-in-laws gift to the family so we'll all be there rooting for the sounders. I have a feeling Freddie got macadamia nut money my bray !!! ;D
