Hmmm it could be in doubt. Geoff Sheard: ‘Biggest problem is parties are polarised’ Prospective Sheffield Wednesday frontman Geoff Sheard warns for the first time today that the six-month takeover saga cannot run on indefinitely, writes Alan Biggs. Sheard - who confirms that manager Brian Laws will stay in charge under a change of control - still "desperately wants" to complete the deal before the start of the new season. But, without setting a deadline, the Lancashire businessman hints strongly that a point could come when he and his backers are forced to fix their sights elsewhere. And former chairman Dave Allen has weighed in with a "get on with it" message to the other three major shareholders, claiming that his former board colleagues, Geoff Hulley and Keith Addy, are holding out for a higher share price.Sheard told the Telegraph: "Everyone has been very patient and it's been a very difficult transaction. But I feel we're at a stage where everybody has to agree to go forward - or the club isn't going to go forward, simple as that." It is the first public pressure applied by Sheard, perhaps a recognition that it will be even harder to clinch a deal once the season starts and the spotlight shifts to the pitch. Sheard has yet to nail down more than 10% of his 40% initial shares target, which - including loan repayments of some £3m - would cost a total of around £6m at 20 pence a share. He has still to reach agreement with director Hulley and former board member Addy. They are both negotiating through club brokers Deloitte rather than directly with Sheard, as ex-chairman Allen did in striking a deal for his 10%. Sheard added: "The biggest problem is that the parties are so polarised. I'm dealing with four separate bodies, which doesn't make it easy. I was told that Mr. Allen was likely to be the most difficult and obdurate but he was first class in reaching an agreement within 24 hours of the documentation he asked for being provided. "To be fair, Wednes dayite haven't put up any barriers. I've answered most of the questions they asked me - to their satisfaction, as far as I know. "I can only do what I can do. It's been a hell of a long journey and I'm determined to finish off on this. "We desperately want to be in there before the start of the season and feel we can put our plans into action." Those plans, which have stayed under wraps for arguably understandable reasons, are the key to an agreement with three of the four parties - in particular, the amount of funding the club can expect from the injection of Swiss-based money. However, a sensational move to lure Alan Shearer as manager - which was openly entertained by sources close to Sheard a few weeks ago - is no longer on the agenda, at least in the short term. GET OUT OF OUR CLUB HULLEY AND ADDY

Do we need money for that? Consider that a complimentary side benefit!! It's just really pissing me off that we've got financial squatters within our club.

It's just really pissing me off that we've got financial squatters within our club. Surely you must have suspected for quite some time. that the people who were holding onto shares, weren't doing it out of love for the club?? But are they really stupid enough to believe that our shares are worth that much these days? If they'd actually given a fuck about the club in the first place their shares would have been worth a hell of a lot more and as supposed businessmen they've utterly failed. Take what's been offered and fuck off.
