Controversial one here. Matt Le Tissier. Commedable loyalty to Southampton but wasn't prepared to test himself at the highest level.

Friggin' hell Mort. Will have to get this thread pinned or others won't believe that you've agreed with me on something!! Then there's people like Danny Cadamateri, Julian Joachim and that lad who I can't remember (Arsenal, Everton, Rangers forward) who started their careers really promisingly but never lived up to it. Shit, what the fuck is his name? Controversial one here. Matt Le Tissier. I'll give you a name that the majority will have never heard of, Darren Bastow. He came thru the argyle ranks, looked very promising, possibly could have played in the Premiership if he hadn't given it all up at 19 after been given some community service for abusing a teacher at college. I believe he had a trial at then Premiership Derby and would have gone if it wasn't for his discipline problems.

Shame he went off the rails like he did. There are quite a few top players that never made the predicted mark. Not just thinking of youngsters but you have the likes of Gazza and Best who had talent that surpassed most of todays players and they wasted it!
