Looks amazing Neko! I gotta be honest; I've been to several states in the US, and several European countries too, plus all over the UK, but Mescalero was like a whole other world - not just to look at, but to experience it. I can't put my finger on what was so different, but it just has this feel about it. There were still crap drivers there, mind - and they all came from Texas.

I can see the face! Apparently, it comes up like that every year. Even if you don't believe it is an ancient chief watching them, it's a pretty amazing coincidence, huh?

Great pictures mate, it almost looks sureal to be honest. But as you say you can fully understand as to why the indians settled in such a fine place. Glad you enjoyed your time there

It really is just picture-postcard perfect, isn't it? I've got one other pic to scan in to show, but I'll do that when I can be arsed - nice little cultural thing though

One more picture! Quoting a note Shini's uncle left attached to the big picture in my haul... During their various festivals (such as the Coming of Age ceremony for girls), specially selected dancers dress up as those Mountain Gods and dance round a large fire all night, singing prayers and special songs as they do so. I was shown a video of one of those festivals by Shini's mum, and I have to be honest, those guys put in a hell of a lot of work - it looks and sounds fantastic too!

Absolutely rocked I've had loads of the guys at work asking how it was, so I've been showing off my ceremonial beads to them - much impressed-ness all round!

Many thanks good sir Is there a 606 drinkies session being planned for any time soon? If so, and if I can make it, I'll bring some of the souvenirs along so you can check 'em out directly - I cannot honestly say just how awesome the work put into them is (And I mean 'awesome' in the correct way there; they really are inspiring!)
