Here it is - the first official challenge! ;D Fortunately, I've actually put some thought into the subject this time, so it should prove to be a bit more inspirational than the practice one.
September Fic Challenge Topic: Technology
Check the pinned 'Fic Challenge Guide' thread for the rules, and get those entries in! ;D

Cool, though had I been a bit more bothered I reckon I could have done something with "Time" Watch *this* space <story morphs into gap...>

And I've just been struck by inspiration! I've no doubt I'll change it a million times, but hopefully I'm gonna have an entry

I might give it a go. Won't be good, and will be far too Sci-Fi for most people...
What's the word limit?

The challenge, then, is for members (the challenger included) to write a short story (anything from 500 to 20,000 words, though your typical entry tends to be 2,000-3,000)

I might just hand in my GCSE English Coursework... 9,000 words for an 800 word assignment... Ripped off 'Halo', too...

I might give it a go. Won't be good, and will be far too Sci-Fi for most people... Well, the whole point isn't necessarily about the quality (though it obviously helps), it's about having a go at it - hopefully, it'll be a bit of fun; it'll give people something to read and think about, and hopefully it can help you improve too! Some people have a great imagination but struggle to write, others are great writers but struggle for ideas. The idea is, either way, to get a little bit better at whatever you're weak at, with the help of everyone else As for 'too sci-fi'? As long as it's not written in Klingon or something, you should be fine Cheers Lolly! ;D I've not got a problem with that, in truth - you wrote it, so it's valid. Just don't try to submit it next month too As for 'ripping Halo off' - if it's really close to it, just say it's from the Halo fandom, even if it's an AU fic ('alternate universe' - in other words, you don't necessarily follow the fandom's canon rules). The beauty about fanfiction is you can copy things, mix things and all sorts; originality isn't the biggest issue~

Its not close to Halo in any sense other than the overriding concept. I'll probably give it a tweak, (written four years ago, will need updating and editing anyway), but might give up and do a whole new one.

Nah, sod it. I just read through it and it's pretty amateurish. I'll lift some ideas, but I'll start a-new.

Would giving you the title spoil it?

Would giving you the title spoil it? Not at all, unless the title encapsulates your entire plot

Would giving you the title spoil it? Not at all, unless the title encapsulates your entire plot Well it's going to be called "Tinny Tim and the Mysterious Microwave" - so make of that what you will.
