At the end of the day Harry Potter is just a rip off of so many things its unbelievable. I found myself thinking of Bruce Almighty in one of the chapters... That and Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dragonlance and a few others

Some of the book I thought was just written for a film. However, overall I did like it. It was enjoyable but not the best book. My favourite still remains the Goblet of Fire. I agree it seems like it's been written with the upcoming film in mind as for so much of the book, I could imagine how it'd look.

And at one point I swear I saw a stage direction...

Not surprising really same thing happened with tom Clancy books his first couple were good but once Hunt for Red October was made in to a film his books just read like scripts its the money and movie franchise that gets to authors heads I think

Right.
I have one girl to the left of me reading this now at work. I also have one guy to the right of me reading this too. Its starting to slightly annoy me as conversation is becoming a bit of a one way thing.

Adults reading kids books = lame asses To be fair, if they're enjoying it then what's the problem? I'm not a Potter fan, but I have no problem with other people reading it (I just hate the hype ramming it down my throat ) I frequently watch cartoons; I fail to see how that's any different.

Ok I've read it and it was bobbins. Tried to cram too much into the last one. Some mention of the Hallows should have been brought up in The Half Blood Prince.
Film should be good though.

you could have all read a grown ups book though. Nothing wrong with reading a book aimed at younger audiences as long as you enjoy it! At least they read them instead of just vegetating in front of the TV in that time!

I've avoided this thread until I'd read the whole thing. I thought the ending, particularly the last line (before the 19 years later bit) was so very cheesy. Glad Neville became a bit of a hero though - the guy who plays him in the films, is a Leeds fan! It was a bit drawn out but quite enjoyable. Not the best book of the series though.

Drawn out? I thought it was all crammed in! Could've done with an extra couple hundred pages, or have had some previous mention of the Hallows in The Half Blood Prince, or whatever book came before this one..

Yeah, I got a bit bored halfway through. I do agree that the Hallows ahould've been mentioned in previous books though. I guess she just wanted a storyline to bring everything together. Glad Harry and Ginny got together! I'm guessing she didn't have a say in the names of their kids though!
