Ok, i admit i don't read many books nowadays, not as many as i did when i was knee highed to a grasshopper anyway! But i was quite into reading as a kid and can remember loads of books i loved to read. I figure that i'm not going to be alone on this and that many peeps may be in the same boat so this is a kinda way for even the less avid book reader to tell us what books they enjoyed as a kid....everyone read them back then!
I remember a lot of the Roald Dahl books being popular (BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Witches etc) and The Little Vampire ones for starters...i sense flashbacks so this could run and run.

Yeah, Roald Dahl was brilliant (and his books for 'older' readers are good as well)! ;D Also enjoyed reading some of Enid Blyton's stuff. Famous Five, Secret Seven, and I think she might have also written Noddy? Can't say I read the Noddy books but sure loved him on tv. ;D

Bill's New Frock wasn't bad. Goosebumps were ok, although I didn't find them scary. I seem to remember reading a series of books set in 'Puddle Lane' as well. Involving two beasts called the Griffle and the Gruffle.

Involving two beasts called the Griffle and the Gruffle. Haha i knew this would happen. Someone would say something and you remember! Puddle Lane, that was on TV too, i remember those books, can't remember in great detail but didn't it have wizards or something in it too with cats in the story too. There were a series of 'Jets' books too i think....loads of different kids books from 'Ging gang goolie its an alien' to 'Harry with spots on' and 'Monty the dog who wears glasses'. Weird how you remember huh!

Ah I used to love Enid Blyton when I was younger. I've always loved to read and did so more avidly when I was little (I was the first person in my class in Primary school to move on to free reading ). The Goosebumps good were good - although I too didn't find them very scary. I used to love the 'Point Crime' series too.

Don't get me started on kid's books, I could ramble for hours (ok, who said 'we know'?)
Enid Blyton lived about 500 yards away from where we live now. Seriously, there's a blue plaque and everything! Noddy rules!

When I was really tiny, I used to love Biff and Chip. When I got older, Roald Dahl was high on my list. When I was 6 though, Harry Potter came out (how long could we go without mentioning that...) To me, that was a kids book because I was a kid... My mum or dad read the first one to me when I went to bed. I used to love poetry when I was younger though. Beatrix Potter as well. Mrs Tiggywinkle was a really big favourite, I loved hedgehogs! Lucy Daniels, Animal Ark I think, was probably my very, very favourtie when I was a kid. Favourite one? Hedgehogs in the Hall

Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Beatrix Potter... Timeless classics! I remember puddle lane too - I even started humming the TV theme tune as soon as I saw the name!

I remember the Hardy Boy books Billy but Nancy Drew was the girly version.
I loved Roald Dhal and read everything he wrote. Other favourites were The 26th Annual Hippopotamus Race and The House that Sailed Away. I read them over and over.
Judy Blume books as well as I got older. Oh have we giggles when we read Forever and read about Ralph!!! (Girls and probably some boys of a certain age will know what I'm talking about!!!)
